This I made from a pattern I created myself. I was not having any luck with the hook eye garter belts. One, they were always too small, two, the hooks would always bend open, and three, I just didnt like them with two garters.

 

I made this as a garter belt to hold up my stockings, nothing more, and they are belts that are small enough to use scraps for.

With this one, I used a button closure, reinforced with interfacing, and it is the most comfortable belt I have ever worn!

This one is made with two layers of fabric, with grosgrain ribbon used as the straps. I have used elastic near the top before, and may go back to that, as they give the straps a more accurate fit. I then tie the garter clasps to the ends and adjust the straps as needed for the length of the stocking.

I am definitely going to make more buttons belts, I can not believe how comfy they are!
