I kept the jacket simple, using my 40's big shirt as a template. I made the sleeves cap sleeves from another pattern because I wanted the slightly boxy look. As I was constructing the jacket, I realized I would have to tack down the seams and darts because the fabric was so bulky. I even had to do that around the arm holes.

Serged seames tacked down.
